I’ve tried training, medication, hemp chews, CBD chews, aromatherapy, toys, treats, kongs, things to chew, lick mats, walks, playing, mental stimulation games, soft music, leaving the tv on, leaving it off, covering the crate, uncovering the crate, doggie daycare (keeps failing the interview.) When I reached out to a trainer, he said that we needed to build Remus’ confidence up, which could happen through training. The problem is Remus is so anxious, that anything I’ve tried on my own, he won’t do anything more than a couple of times before he shuts down. The trainer said that can happen when a dog doesn’t know what to do. He even came up a few times to help in person, but that proved to be fruitless, because Remus spent the entire time hiding behind me. We tried to do a few zoom sessions, but it didn’t make any difference. He's been checked by the vet for UTIs, but he's fine. The trainer recommended medication which we talked to the vet about. The vet said that she didn’t want him on meds full-time, so she only gave us a weeks worth, and suggested a behaviorist, but I can’t afford it. It seemed to help the first couple of days, but things went back to normal towards the end. I don’t know if he needs more or a different kind.
