My best friend took in a dog, Penny, who is reacting with one of her other dogs. It’s a terrible situation and she can’t keep her. But all of our nearby no kill shelters are full. We are willing to road trip to keep this beautiful girl alive.
Here is Penny’s story. Penny is a beautiful nearly 3 year old Boxer. Born 10-14-22. Approximately 50-55 pounds. She has been spayed. Her rabies vaccination expired 5-8-25. A photo of the certificate is attached.
Penny appears to be food aggressive. All of her physical fights have been with one other dog in the home. Cindy has received severe bites from both dogs while trying to separate them on different occasions. Cindy feeds Penny in her crate with a slow feed bowl to prevent her from gulping her food.
Cindy was given Penny from a coworker who bought her at 8 weeks old. The previous owner said Penny growled at her toddler but did not bite. The previous owner also said they took Penny to obedience training but we don’t have any details. To our knowledge she’s never been assessed by another shelter for her behavioral issues. Penny has never shown aggression towards Cindy.
Cindy is devastated this is not working out. She’s rescued two senior boxers previously that worked well but not with the other dog that fights with Penny. Currently the other dog is with Cindy’s daughter but this is a very temporary arrangement. She doesn’t want to give up on Penny but this dangerous and unfair to both dogs.
Please help us save Penny. We will fund Penny’s care.
Thank you,
Michelle Wade
